Export means the movement of goods from one country to another. As soon as the goods cross the territorial border of the country, the definition of export occurs. The goods carrier will transport the cargo from the country after completing the necessary customs formalities of such country. As soon as the export customs clearance is completed and before the goods are moved, the carrier shall submit to the customs department detailed information about the goods so moved in the prescribed format. This is called the General Export Manifesto – EGM.
The Export General Manifest is a legal document that must be filed by the carrier of the goods with the customs department. This document is used by government authorities as proof of export.
